Editorial policy
Emerald Sporting Life aims to make sporting heritage engaging without making the evidence carry more weight than it can bear. Our articles distinguish established context from interpretation and make uncertainty clear.
Accuracy and context
We check names, dates and historical claims against reliable material before publication, and take care not to present one club, place or community as representative of all sport. Where a story is disputed or details are uncertain, we say so rather than smoothing away the disagreement.
Independence and partnerships
Editorial decisions are made for readers, not partners. Paid or partner material is clearly labelled so readers can tell it apart from independent editorial work; a partnership does not guarantee favourable coverage or influence what we publish.
Corrections and illustrations
If we find an error, we correct the article and clarify material changes. Readers can flag a concern through the Contact page. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; where that is the case, the image is identified as such and is not presented as documentary evidence.
Sport is remembered in the things we do.
A tradition is not frozen in time. Look closely and you can see how people keep it, adapt it or give it new meaning.
